Welcome to South Windsor High School —
About Us
Since 1961, South Windsor High School (SWHS) has served students and families at the Nevers Road campus and most recently, with the addition of the SWHS Annex building. Prior to this date, the school operated for 25 years out of the current Board of Education building as Ellsworth Memorial High School. In a diverse community of nearly 27,000 citizens, SWHS is proud to provide a nurturing and engaging environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and personally. It is our mission, in partnership with the families we serve, to ensure that all students experience a dynamic culture of learning that prepares them to achieve their own excellence.
At SWHS, we believe that all students should be afforded the opportunity to Dream, Achieve, and Inspire. To this end, our Portrait of a Graduate serves as the cornerstone of attributes that a South Windsor graduate will embody throughout their educational journey and beyond. In alignment with our inclusive and culturally diverse community, our school is committed to providing equity, access, and opportunity within all student experiences.
South Windsor High School offers a variety of comprehensive courses within a high-quality and rigorous educational experience that help prepare students for high school and beyond. In addition to the core curriculum, students engage in ongoing social and emotional learning (SEL), college and career readiness experiences, diversity, equity and access connections, multi-tiered systems of support, and specialized instruction that meet the needs of each individual student. Additionally, we are proud to offer over 90 clubs and organizations, 60 athletic teams, and many other offerings to ensure students feel ‘at home’ within our school community.
Our commitment to excellence, innovation, and inclusivity empowers our students to reach their full potential and become compassionate, informed global citizens. Together, we strive to foster an emotionally safe and responsible school environment where students may move on and graduate, yet will always call us their home.
Inclusivity
We prioritize inclusivity by actively promoting a welcoming and supportive environment where every student feels valued and empowered.
