It’s time for “this date in history.” On April 23, Wrigley Field hosted its first major league baseball game and would eventually become the home field for the Chicago Cubs. Speaking of baseball, on this date in 1954, Hank Aaron hit his first home run of his major league career. On April 23, 1985, the Coca-Cola company introduced “New Coke” with a new recipe for the famous soda. Consumer reviews did not go well and the company brought back the original recipe three months later by selling “Coca-Cola Classic.” Famous birthdays on this date include President James Buchanan, actress Shirley Temple, singer Roy Orbison, actress Valerie Bertinelli, comedian George Lopez, and wrestler/actor John Cena. Thanks for listening to this date in history.
