South Windsor for the Local Kids is fundraising at Stop and Shop on February 15th from 10 am-2pm. All proceeds to benefit Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
Join South Windsor for the Local Kids to celebrate Latin American culture and to fundraise money for Connecticut Children's. Join us on February 12th in the Annex Cafe from 2:05-3:30 and grab a dance partner or your valentine and learn salsa partner dancing from a salsa dance teacher. Plus - eat some of our handmade empanadas. Participation costs $10. Scan one of the QR codes posted around the TVs in the hallways, or in classrooms to sign up.
It’s time for “this date in history.” February 11th is National Inventors’ Day, as declared by President Nixon due in part to this being the birthdate of Thomas Edison who held 1,093 patents and played a critical role in the advent of electricity. On February 11th, 1964, Sarah Palin, the first woman to appear on a Republican presidential ticket, was born. Also on this date in 1969, actress Jennifer Aniston from the popular sitcom “Friends” was born. On February 11th, 2012, American R & B singer Whitney Houston passed away at the age of 48. And finally, on this date in 2020 the World Health Organization officially names the novel coronavirus disease as COVID-19. Thanks for listening to this date in history.
