SCHOOL NEWS:
It’s time for “this date in history.” On February 10, 1863, the first US fire extinguisher patent was granted. On this date in 1897, the New York Times began using the slogan “All the News That’s Fit to Print.” Also on February 10, 1920, baseball outlawed all pitches involving tampering with the ball and in 1924, Bucky Harris became the youngest major league manager of the then Washington Senators. Finally, on February 9, 1940 the famous cartoon duo of Tom & Jerry premiered on the big screen. Thanks for listening to this date in history.

CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES:
Come support SWHS National Honor Society’s fundraiser at Panera Bread on February 18th from 4-8pm and make sure to mention SWHS National Honor Society when completing your order.
The National English Honor Society will hold its monthly meeting this Thursday, February 12 at 2:10 in Room 146.
Come to the next Italian Club meeting on Thursday, February 19th right after school in Annex Room 35. We will be decorating Carnival masks and having food to celebrate the Italian holiday of Carnevale. All are welcome and the meeting is free! See Mrs. Zaccardelli with any questions.
The French Club, Le Lynx will meet on Thursday, February 12, right after school in the Annex Kitchen, Room 3.
